Customer feedback reflects our value—take a look at what our customers say about our products and services.

We balanced an entire four-floor lab building with Deiiang VCDs. Handles lock tight, readings repeatable, and nothing has drifted in a year of service.

Marcus Bennett, TAB Supervisor

Well-made dampers, fair price. The blades sit true in the frames and the quadrants feel solid. No complaints.

Dr. Anna Kowalski

Our data hall rebalance went twice as fast with Deiiang multi-blade dampers. Smooth control, no hunting or noise.

Kenji Tanaka

Deiiang supplied odd rectangular sizes for our retrofit within three weeks. Every damper fit first time.

Sarah Thompson, Project Engineer

Good sealing, good finish. The single-blade units in our round branches work exactly as promised.

Diego Fernández

We now specify Deiiang VCDs on all our cleanroom projects. Consistent quality, and their tech support answers quickly.

Single-blade volume control damper in round duct

Single-blade volume control damper

Multi-blade volume control damper

A multi-blade volume control damper uses several linked airfoil blades, so it controls large rectangular ducts smoothly with less pressure disturbance. It is the standard choice for trunk ducts and high-flow branch lines.

Single-blade volume control damper

A single-blade volume control damper is one plate on a spindle, simple and effective in smaller round ducts. It costs less and fits tight spaces, though it creates more turbulence when throttled well below full open.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is a volume control damper?

A volume control damper, or VCD, is a manual blade assembly fitted in a duct to regulate airflow. Once balanced to the design flow, its locking handle holds the blade position so the system stays in adjustment.

Multi-blade or single-blade — which should I use?

Use multi-blade dampers in larger rectangular ducts where smooth control matters. Single-blade dampers are simpler and cheaper for small round branches, where a single plate does the job well.

How far should a VCD be throttled?

Best practice keeps a volume control damper mostly open at design flow, typically no more than lightly throttled. Heavy throttling adds noise and wastes fan energy, which usually means the duct or fan needs a second look.

Are Deiiang VCDs suitable for cleanrooms?

Yes. We build volume control dampers in SS304 or SS316L with sealed bearings and low-leakage blades, so they hold setpoints in GMP and ISO-classified environments.

What is a locking quadrant handle?

It is the handle on the damper spindle with a toothed plate that locks the blade at the chosen angle. Once tightened, the setting resists vibration and tampering until deliberately changed.

Do you provide leakage data?

For critical applications we supply tested leakage figures for our damper assemblies. Tell us the pressure class your project requires and we will match a construction to it.

How to choose Volume Control Dampers?

1

Know Your Design Airflow

Start from the duct airflow and velocity; a damper sized for the duct controls smoothly without excessive throttling noise.

2

Choose Blade Configuration

Multi-blade dampers suit rectangular trunk ducts; single-blade units are ideal for smaller round branches.

3

Check Leakage Requirements

Where dampers must hold pressure or shut tight, ask for low-leakage blade seals and request leakage test data.

4

Select Handle and Locking Type

Locking quadrant handles keep settings tamper-proof; specify memory stops where positions must be repeatable.

5

Pick Materials for the Environment

Galvanized steel for standard duty, SS304 or SS316L for washdown, coastal, or corrosive cleanroom zones.

6

Plan Access for Balancing

Ensure access doors and straight duct runs near each damper so TAB technicians can measure and adjust accurately.

7

Verify Documentation and Spares

Keep submittals and setting records on file, and stock spare handles and seals so adjustments stay easy for years.
